Five years ago today, I took this shot at Lanzarote’s Timanfaya National park (Canary Islands). You can drive to the visitor centre in your own car, but the rest of the park is only accessible by bus. For a photographer this is a nightmare, because it means that you have to shoot trough a dirty window and you only stop where the bus is scheduled to stop. But there is an advantage as well. The park is absolutely pristine because of this. No footsteps, no flat soda cans, no discarded paper. Like it has been for centuries since the last volcanic eruption.
