Ecuador has declared the State of Emergency over the activity of the Cotopaxi Volcano, one of the many volcanoes in the South American country. What makes Cotopaxi special however, is that it’s not only one of the biggest and highest volcanoes and covered in snow (which can cause mud flows in case of an eruption), but that it’s located just 53 kilometers south of the capital Quito. If it comes to a full eruption, Quito may also be in the danger zone. It’s always humbling to read what mother nature can do and how powerless we humans really are, but it’s even more so when you’ve been there personally.
